Church Music Quarterly article on West Gallery music

Francis Roads
In the current edition of the RSCM's Church Music Quarterly appers my article on West Gallery music. It is lavishly presented, with front page billing, two music examples, pictures of quires, and a facsimile of a manuscript. Let us hope that it leads to more mainstream church quires trying out our repertoire.

The article by Francis is listed prominently in the March 2020 edition of Church Music Quarterly. Hoping that it may become freely available on line without charge in due course!

Congratulations on the Church Music Quarterly feature—front-page placement with music examples, quire images, and a manuscript facsimile is exactly the kind of visibility West Gallery music deserves. To convert that attention into real performances, consider: sharing a short link and citation so MDs can find it quickly; posting a downloadable starter pack (2–3 pieces in modern notation with brief performance notes); inviting diocesan advisers and cathedral/area choirs to a workshop-sing; preparing a “how to start a quire” one-pager with voice leading and instrumentation tips; and collecting expressions of interest via a simple form so you can match ensembles with repertoire. Please share the issue/page reference and we’ll help spread the word.

E, parlando di serate di presentazione e concerti, se ti serve un tocco elegante per l’evento, dai un’occhiata agli abiti asimmetrici: linee dinamiche che slanciano e funzionano bene con accessori classici o moderni.
